Four new games, team doubled, and a new business development branch — this is what 2024 looks like for Burny Games.
2024 was a year of growth and development for Burny Games. Above all, our achievements are the results of our incredible team, which forms the foundation of everything we create. This year, the Burny Games team doubled in size, strengthening expertise in all areas: UA, monetization, art, tech, and analytics.
Igor, COO: "When we say we doubled, it might sound like just x2, but think about it: we were 50 people, and now we are 100! Despite market challenges and the ongoing full-scale war, we focused on ensuring stability and providing the team with the best working conditions. This growth proves that our efforts paid off.
I wouldn’t say this year was exceptionally tough or crisis-driven. We always have plenty of ideas and plans, and we make a lot happen. Experimenting and pioneering often means navigating uncharted territory with a flashlight in hand, but we manage to move forward.”
New Games in 2024
Denys, CPO: “In 2024, we transitioned to a matrix structure. This gave our producers more autonomy in project management and decision-making. Every two weeks, they share project updates with their teams, ensuring that each unit understands what needs to be improved or refined — or whether it’s even necessary. This transparency has significantly enhanced decision-making on the ground and accelerated our processes.
In 2025, we’ve planned another upgrade in development processes, but we’ll talk more about that in the new year.”
We ended 2023 with a bang by launching Colorwood Sort, our flagship product that quickly won players' hearts. And 2024 followed suit: in early December, we released three new games — Colorwood Words, Sortica, and Colorwood Screw. We’re now working hard to ensure these projects climb the charts, and we’re confident that even greater victories are ahead.
In 2023, much of our focus was on Playdoku, the first flagship project from our team. In 2024, we leaned into the sorts genre, claiming top spots with Colorwood Sort. Here’s some key U.S. performance data:
Top 10 Puzzle Game on USA iPhone
Top 2 Family Game on USA iPhone
Top 5 Strategy Game on USA iPhone
Top 20 Overall Games across all categories in the U.S. App Store for iPhones
Anatolii, CEO: “In 2024, we aimed to grow existing projects and release new ones. We set a target of releasing four games—and we achieved it. Some were planned for earlier launches but were released closer to the end of the year due to various circumstances. We chose to prioritize quality over rushing releases, staying true to our signature standards.
At the same time, we had standout successes: the expansion of the Colorwood universe with Colorwood Words was developed in just 50 working days. Clear planning and a solid understanding of our goals allowed us to optimize development time and achieve the desired results.”
A Year of Discoveries
This year was also about learning and new opportunities. Our team attended numerous international game development events, connected with industry leaders, and shared insights. These experiences have inspired new ideas and strategies that we’ve already begun to implement.
In 2025, we plan to share even more of our expertise and further promote the Ukrainian game development brand. Additionally, we had a great experience with the management team, running a strategic session and working hard together for a week.
Cheers to our team, partners, and players for believing in us and supporting us. We enter 2025 with big plans, ambitious goals, and unshakable inspiration.
Here’s to another great year!
